World Medical Games
Stirling Scotland 2003
In the summer of 2003, Dr. McEachern was invited to play for Scotland’s soccer/football entry in the World medical games. These were held in beautiful and historic Stirling and the team qualified out of a field of 64 teams for the elimination rounds, only to be derailed by a terrific and sporting team from Belgium. All was not lost, however, as Dr. McEachern and his teammates received the Fair Play Award for receiving no yellow or red cards during the entire tournament. The awarded trophy was given to Dr. McEachern for safe keeping by the team and now stays polished on this side of the Atlantic.
City of Dundee
Scotland’s National Health Service 2004
During the summer of 2004, Lord Provost John Letford invited Dr. McEachern to meet with officials from the City of Dundee and the Tayside branch of Scotland’s National Health Service. Discussions included challenges and opportunities facing their NHS in the face of devolution from the United Kingdom as well as proposals for academic exchanges between physicians from Scotland and the United States of America. Dr. McEachern and Lord Provost John Letford are pictured in the executive chambers of the City of Dundee. (Dr. McEachern used his best handwriting…)
In this picture, Dr. McEachern enjoys a lovely dinner with members of the City of Dundee’s government overlooking the River Tay. On the opposite bank lies Fife, boasting some pretty legendary golf courses.

When one wraps up consultations in Dundee, one must always sneak into a proper Scottish wedding. In this case, the dapper groom is our intrepid goalkeeper from the World Medical Games, and dear friend, Dr. David McColl. (This wedding was held at beautiful Mar Hall on the banks of the Clyde, just downstream from Glasgow. Formerly reserved by the Earl of Mar for the veterans of World War One, it is now a five star luxury hotel. Simply smashing!)
